If you ask me what my favorite guns are, I have no hesitation in telling you.
First, my favorite small caliber pistol for target shooting (and carry) is the Walther P22 in 22lr. The gun holds 10 rounds, has little kick, is incredibly accurate, and is a lot of fun to shoot. This gun is ambidextrous and has the mag release on the trigger housing. Love color? This firearm comes in all different color configurations, including Angel Blue.
My favorite 9mm pistol is a tie between the Kimber Micro 9 and any Canik ever made. If you are not familiar with Canik, this is a company that does very little advertising (except word of mouth) and builds some of the best 9mm handguns on the market today. Carry, target shooting or competition– this company has you covered, not to mention some of the best price points. My favorite .45 caliber pistol is also a tie between Kimber and Colt 1911.
My favorite small caliber revolver is the Charter Arms Pathfinder. An 8 shot 22lr revolver, it offers a nice lightweight carry gun and a good range gun. My favorite ammo to use in my revolver is the .22 Quiet. Just like the name, it has 75% noise than the regular .22lr (which is not very loud). The difference with a revolver compared to a pistol is you can use a lot of different types of ammo. Snake shot, hollow point, Quiet, lead nose, copper nose, a revolver can handle them all in the same cylinder. Unlike a pistol which requires 200 rounds of target ammo as a “break in” period, a revolver is ready to go from the start.
When it comes to “big” revolvers, I love the older S&W long barrel revolvers in .357 with the wood grips. Accurate and dependable and nice to look at.
Myfavorite long gun? Hands down the Rossi Circuit Judge. With this gun I don’t have to choose between a rifle or a shotgun because, in an odd way, it offers both options. Designed with a revolving cylinder (like a revolver), I can shoot either .45 long colt or .410 shotgun shells. Fantastic for the person who loves the outdoors but wants options.
Looking for a unique long gun? The Keltec Sub 2000 is one of the most amazing designs with the capability of being folded in half. Sounds odd but for storage or carrying (in a backpack or on an ATV or boat) it saves a lot of space and folded in half it cannot be fired so it is safe to transport. My favorite version is the 9mm that takes Glock magazines.
Enough about guns...
Department of Homeland Security Director, Kristi Noem, had her purse stolen by a person in the country illegally. You just can’t make this up. Ironically, initial reports claim that she wasn’t targeted, just a bad choice of victim. Guess someone will be getting a “Fast Pass” ticket to the border. Bye.
While sitting around one day, I was pondering how things are going. You know, if something concerns me or makes me happy, I generally let my readers know. Well, as a person who believes you need to help make things better, and not just complain, I have decided to make the big decision to run for Mayor of Holly Ridge this November. My husband was born and raised here, both of my children were born here, my extended family has been in this area for decades and I love the Holly Ridge area. As a small business owner, I understand the hurdles and struggles that never seem to end. I know what it is like to depend on the tourist dollar from the neighboring towns, while trying to keep the people that live and work here intrigued and interested in coming into our local businesses.
I believe this area can offer so much more to those that live, work and travel through here. Hopefully with your help, we can make this area better and better together.
Vote Dorothy Royal for Holly Ridge Mayor on Tuesday, November 4, 2025!
Remember knowledge is power, criminals that are here illegally should think before they act, and every single person can make a difference, including each of us.
