Pender County Announces Aimee Watson-Green as New Director of the Department of Social Services

Pender County is excited to announce that Aimee Watson-Green will be joining the Consolidated Human Services Division as the new Director of the Department of Social Services (DSS). Watson-Green, a dedicated social services professional with 23 years of experience, has most recently served as the Assistant Director of DSS for Pender County.

Throughout her career, Watson-Green has held various roles within the social services field, including positions in Onslow, New Hanover, Jones, and Pender counties. Her extensive experience includes roles such as social work supervisor, quality assurance and improvement supervisor, social work program manager, interim director, and DSS Director. Additionally, she has served as a Children's Program Representative and child welfare policy consultant for the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.

Watson-Green's career progression highlights her deep knowledge, leadership abilities, and unwavering commitment to serving both her team and the community. She is eager to continue applying her expertise in leading the department and enhancing service delivery across Pender County.

Watson-Green holds a bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University and a master’s degree from Liberty University. She has been an active participant in several human service organizations, serving on various boards, councils, teams, and committees. Her past involvement includes membership on the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) and Community Child Protection Team (CCPT) in Onslow County, and on the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council in Jones County. Currently, Watson-Green serves on the Pender County Opioid Task Force, the Substance Use Prevention Partnership (SUPP), the Pender County Pre-K Policy Council, and the Pender Long Term Recovery Group (PLTRG). She has also previously served on Pender County Smart Start.

Watson-Green is dedicated to collaborating with her staff, community partners, and stakeholders to further enhance social services in Pender County.
