Most local Onslow County communities are familiar with the new contracts between the County and the Fire Departments that serve them. If you were following the stories, you may be familiar with a local name, Chief Brandon Longo.
Chief Longo was one of the first to sit down with the county and work out a contract that was a win-win for both his department and the community it serves.
Brandon started his career in firefighting at the age of 16 as a volunteer with Turkey Creek Fire & Rescue. When he turned 21 and after achieving his EMT Certification, he moved to Holly Ridge Fire & Rescue, located in his hometown of Holly Ridge. Around the same time as joining Holly Ridge, he became a paid firefighter at Camp Lejeune. It is easy to see how this hard-working young man has made serving his community a real passion.
In 2012, Brandon became the Chief of the Holly Ridge Fire and Rescue and still holds that position today. His qualifications are noteworthy: Firefighter II, EMT, Inspector II, Instructor II, Fire Officer III, Hazmat Technician, Rescue Technician with includes High Angel, Confined Space, Driver Operator Pump and Aerial.
Married to his wife Heidi, he has three wonderful daughters, ages 9, 12 and 16 and enjoys playing golf with his dad and road trips with his family. Brandon’s parents also call Holly Ridge home.
