Brevard College freshman outfielder Addie MacDougall was honored by the USA South Conference after a stellar collegiate debut, securing USA South Rookie of the Week honors.
MacDougall, a product of Topsail, North Carolina, went a combined 7-for-9 (.778) with a .700 on-base percentage, and a 1.000 slugging percentage to go along with five runs scored, three RBI, two doubles, and one sacrifice fly as the Tornados opened the season with a doubleheader sweep of Wesleyan.
In the first game of the season, MacDougall went 3-for-4 at the dish with two doubles, two runs scored, and two RBI. The first-year Tornado followed that performance up by going 4-for-5 in game two of the doubleheader, scoring a team-high three runs and an RBI.
The Tornados are preparing for their home-opening doubleheader at the BC Softball Field, with Brevard hosting Agnes Scott on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
