John Rouse Release

On June 27, 2023, a report was filed with the Jacksonville Police Department in reference to a report that John Rouse had sexually abused a child. The case was forwarded to the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office, as the incident reportedly occurred in the County.

Through further investigation, it was learned that John Rouse had been accused of sexually abusing a different child in 1996. Law Enforcement met with the Onslow County District Attorney’s Office and a warrant for Indecent Liberties with Child was issued for the recent case and the 1996 case.

On February 15, 2024, John Rouse, 68- years-old of Leslie Drive in Hubert, was located in Carteret County by the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office and released to Onslow County authorities, where he was arrested and charged with (2) Counts Indecent Liberties with Child.

Rouse was given a $40,000 secured bond.

His first appearance was set for February 16, 2024.

Assisting agencies were Florida Child Advocacy Center and the Carteret County Sheriff’s Office.
