I have a secret for y’all. I think I have found the cure to hot flashes.
For years I heard the horror stories about hot flashes. How bad could they be? Come on! Well, let me tell you...they’re bad. They come out of nowhere, they creep up on you like crow’s feet. I feel it’s like a tornado. It comes through, hits you hard and you’re left reeling once it’s over. And others around you are un-phased. Like...what just happened? And poor Jeff. I freeze him out every night. He is bundled up, still shivering with 3 blankets on and I have a thin sheet over me with a foot sticking out, fan on high and heater off on these 30 degree nights. Bless his heart.
I don’t know how many of you had the pleasure of knowing Timmy Evans, but if you knew him, he was your friend. He and Trilby would have dinner with us at the restaurant sometimes and “being hot” came up in conversation once. I shared with Timmy my trick. When I do our bed-sheet laundry and our sheets are fresh from the dryer, ready to put on the bed, I just couldn’t do it. The thought of getting in bed with sheets still warm from the dryer was too much. So I would fold those sheets up and stick them in the freezer for about 15 minutes, take them out and put them on the bed. This had Timmy rolling with laughter. He never let me forget that story either!
