Cape Fear Community College has been awarded funding through the SECU Bridge to Career Scholarship Program for the 2025-2026 academic year. The program, supported by the SECU Foundation, is a one-year scholarship program designed to remove financial barriers for North Carolinians seeking state-regulated or industry-recognized credentials.

Through the opportunity, CFCC will receive funding to award up to 30 scholarships, each valued at $500. These scholarships may be used for registration, course fees, books, supplies, credentialing tests, transportation, childcare, and other associated expenses. Students may receive up to two scholarships per year.

“This scholarship aligns closely with CFCC’s mission to prepare students for success in today’s workforce,” said Jim Morton, CFCC President. “With growing demand for skilled labor across our region, this program will help us continue to make a meaningful difference and provide students with sustainable careers upon completion of their education and training.”

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be:

  • A North Carolina resident; and

  • Enrolled or enrolling in an approved workforce credential program; and

  • Unemployed, underemployed, a NC National Guard member, military veteran or spouse, or part of an underserved population; and

  • Complete coursework by August 31, 2026.
