Cape Fear Community College, in partnership with Standard Glass and the National Glass Association, is excited to announce the launch of a new Glazier Apprenticeship program. This course is designed to provide students with foundational skills in the high-demand glass and glazing trade.

The three-level program equips students with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed for glass fabrication and installation careers, from residential shower enclosures to high-rise commercial buildings. Upon completion of the full program, students will earn several credentials, including:

·         U.S. Department of Labor Journeyman Certification

·         National Glass Association Certification

·         National Center for Construction Education and Research Certification

·         OSHA 10 Certification

Level 1 introduces students to essential safety protocols, the fundamentals of the glass and glazing trades, commonly used tools and equipment, and basic glass fabrication techniques. Upon completion, students receive OSHA 10 and CFCC certifications and are eligible to advance to Level 2, where they will focus on glass and metal fabrication and gain an introduction to systems and codes. Level 3 builds on that foundation with advanced topics such as reading plans, estimating, and a deeper understanding of industry systems and codes. This apprenticeship pathway is ideal for individuals seeking to begin a career in construction or glass installation. No prior employment in the field is required to enroll.

This course is offered in a hybrid format. Students will meet online weekly and attend one in-person, hands-on lab session monthly in the evening at Standard Glass from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. The cost for the Level 1 program is $185.
