“Would you like fries with that?” Can you imagine going to a McDonalds and see Donald Trump scooping French fries? If nothing else, it makes for some great publicity. Remember President Clinton and the Saxaphone? Presidents are human too and there is nothing wrong with having a little fun in your day.
Over 18 million people have voted early so far. That is amazing! Keep up the good work and make sure you get out and vote. On the North Carolina ballot you will find a referendum for a Constitutional Amendment. To simplify this, what it is asking is if you are FOR or against having a person be a US Citizen as a requirement to vote. As someone who has been able to travel around the world, I can assure you not once would I have been allowed to vote in another country. Common sense people, common sense.
What’s new in the world of firearms? Well, other than the S&W Bodyguard 2.0, which is an amazing new design for concealment and carry, Springfield now has the Defender Mod-3 firearm which is part of the XD series. This high capacity 9mm handgun carries 16 rounds, has a nice grip for larger hands, is optic ready and has a price tag of under $369.
One of the only items in our economy not to increase in price has been firearms and ammunition. After the shortages during Covid, it is nice to see shelves stocked again with affordable items. Buyers have lots to choose from, such as new versions of some of our favorites (like the Bodyguard 2.0) and upgraded version of some of my favorites.
If you are not familiar with the name Canik, you should be. The Turkish handgun manufacturer advertises through word-of-mouth recommendations and has created a line of 9mm firearms to meet almost every serious gun owner’s needs. With prices starting at $399 and up I strongly recommend any model of Canik.
I think people who run Waffle Houses are missing a huge money maker. They need a LIVE TV show from 10pm until 3am. Trust me, the entertainment would always be there.
The older I get the more I am a firm believer that Halloween should be a twomonth season, Thanksgiving should be two weeks and Christmas 6 weeks. This 5- month Christmas season is nonsense.
Most of us know Roswell, New Mexico for AREA 51 and UFO sightings, but this week it made the news for historic flooding. The area received more rain in one day than they normally get in six months. Chaves County Sheriff, Mike Herrington, posted a video from on top of his patrol vehicle during the flooding, advising people of the dangers of flood waters.
The devastation in Western North Carolina and Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee from the recent storms has brought out an enormous amount of kindness and giving from local communities. The goal is to not forget and to keep the needs of all those people in our daily thoughts. There are so many local people who have gone above and beyond in their actions that I plan on having a section in the next paper dedicated to saying “Thank you”.
