In late January 2026, North Carolina dealt with significant snow accumulations. For the first time in over a decade, measurable snow fell in all 100counties, according to the North Carolina State Climate Office. Greenville, for example, received 14 inches of snowfall, an amount not seen since a large storm in March 1980. Snow totals ranged from 6 to 12 inches for Charlotte. Longwood in Brunswick County received the most with nearly 18 inches. Wilmington reported 5.6 inches of snow, the heaviest there since 1989.
