Following a recent residential vandalism incident, Onslow County Sheriff Chris Thomas is taking the opportunity to issue a summer safety and accountability reminder for parents and guardians.
Around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, deputies with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office responded to a trespassing and property damage call at a home on North Cambridge Street in Hubert. When deputies arrived, they spoke with a neighbor and immediately heard sounds of breaking glass coming from inside the home.
Deputies made a verbal announcement, prompting two juveniles to exit the back of the home. Guardians for both juveniles were notified and responded to the scene. No injuries were reported, and the home was unoccupied and abandoned at the time of the incident.
As the investigation continues, Sheriff Thomas is issuing a summer safety and accountability reminder to parents and guardians:
“While school is out for the summer, we encourage families to remain engaged with their children’s daily activities, peer relationships, and whereabouts,” Thomas said. “Boredom, peer pressure, and a lack of supervision can often lead to poor decisions that have long-lasting consequences.”
Talk with your kids daily about their plans and activities.
Keep in touch with other parents and caregivers.
Encourage kids to join summer programs, sports, or volunteer opportunities. • Remind them to respect people’s property and follow the law.
If you see suspicious activity, please report it to the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office at (910) 455-3113 or submit a tip on the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office App by downloading it through Google Play or Apple Store.
